Chantilly, VA – The Okinawa Karate & Cultural Center is proud to announce an exclusive
Okinawa Masters Seminar with Soke Sadanao Uechi, the globally recognized Soke authority of
Uechi-ryu Karate-do. This unique, two-day event will take place on Friday, April 18, and
Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Okinawa Karate & Cultural Center in Chantilly, VA. Special guest
instructors Kanta Uechi and Tomoo Shinjo, both distinguished Uechi-ryu Karate practitioners
from Okinawa, Japan, will also be teaching at the seminar.
This seminar presents a rare opportunity to learn directly from the descendants of Uechi
Kanbun, the founder of Uechi-ryu Karate. Attendees will gain valuable insights through handson
training and live demonstrations.
"This seminar offers an unparalleled opportunity to train with Soke Sadanao Uechi, the greatgrandson
of Uechi Kanbun, as the world leader and esteemed guardian for the preservation
and promulgation of authentic traditional Okinawa karate Uechi-ryu. With the inclusion of his
son, Kanta, and the opportunity to train nearby in the U.S., this event marks a significant
milestone in the legacy of Uechi-ryu Karate," said Nestor Folta, owner of the Okinawa Karate
& Cultural Center and a World Champion 8th-degree black belt. "Sadanao-Soke’s fluency in
English ensures this seminar is accessible to practitioners of all levels."
Folta, a Kyoshi Master with over 40 years of martial arts experience, spent five years studying in
Okinawa under the direct tutelage of Grandmaster Kanei Uechi and with the Uechi family since.
