The Okinawa Karate Information Center (OKIC) has discovered that its former website, which was officially discontinued approximately two years ago, has been republished without our authorization and is currently accessible online outside our control.
To prevent further circulation of the unauthorized website, we will not disclose its domain name.
We have confirmed that all data on our former server had been completely deleted. Therefore, the currently accessible website is not simply an old website that has remained online by accident.
It is possible that the website was reconstructed using historical data obtained from internet archives, such as the Wayback Machine.
We regard the following issues as extremely serious.
■ Copyright Infringement
The unauthorized reproduction and publication of photographs, written content, and other materials for which OKIC holds the rights generally constitute violations of copyright law.
Acquiring a domain name or accessing materials through internet archives does not grant anyone the right to freely reproduce, publish, or otherwise use copyrighted materials belonging to OKIC.
■ Impersonation of Our Official Website
The unauthorized website uses our organization's name, logo, and former website design, creating the misleading impression that it is still an official website operated by OKIC.
This is a serious matter that may cause confusion and misunderstanding among visitors, affiliated organizations, and other concerned parties.
■ Risks Concerning Personal Information
We have not been able to verify the identity of the individual or organization currently operating the unauthorized website, nor have we confirmed where inquiries submitted through its contact form are being sent.
We strongly urge everyone NOT to submit inquiries or enter any personal information through the unauthorized website under any circumstances.
■ Strict Action Against Unauthorized Use
OKIC has not authorized or approved the republication of its former website in any form.
We are currently investigating the identity of the website operator and the circumstances surrounding its republication.
If copyright infringement or other violations are confirmed, we will take strict and appropriate action, including demanding the suspension and removal of the unauthorized website.
We will not tolerate any unauthorized use of our copyrighted materials, organizational name, or reputation.
